Pepper MaShay—Freeway of Love
You may have thought you knew CAPP Records, but we’ve been shaking it up this year, and now we’re turning everyone’s impressions upside-down with the release of the latest single from Pepper MaShay, Freeway of Love.
The inimitable Pepper MaShay—globally known and universally loved—brings attitude, heart and soul to every release that’s been graced by her vocals. Originally a session singer for the likes of Tina Turner, Cher, Mick Jagger, Celine Dion and others, Pepper has gone on to establish herself as a true dance diva. Perhaps best-known for her contributions to Barry Harris’ dance mega-hit Dive in the Pool (the unofficial anthem from Showtime Television’s Queer as Folk), Pepper has recorded dozens of songs over her career, including I Got My Pride, Lost Yo Mind, and the incredible I Can’t Stop.
Pepper draws throngs of loyal fans during her frequent appearances around the world, and has been performing Freeway of Love throughout the summer to enthusiastic reviews. Penned by Narada Michael Walden and Jeffrey Cohen for Aretha Franklin’s legendary 1985 album Who’s Zoomin’ Who, fans and DJs alike have been clamoring for the release of Freeway of Love.

Rico Bernasconi—Love Deep Inside
One of the hottest trends in dance music in the past couple of years is introducing strong elements from other genres, including country, guitar-laden rock, and most identifiably, reggae—as popularized by producer Bob Sinclar and his use of vocalist Gary “Nesta” Pine. Audiences have responded enthusiastically to this “cross-pollination” of styles, and now, CAPP Records is bringing you a Billboard-bound, reggae-infused original dance track poised to be a summer hit: Love Deep Inside.
Both written and produced by Europe’s Rico Bernasconi, and featuring the vocals of Toni Tuklan, Love Deep Inside brings it home with a range of great remixes, a meaningful and well-presented vocal, and an infectious groove that will find a home in both radio and club play.
Rico Bernasconi’s name may not be immediately identifiable, but the experienced producer has been rocking dance music lovers worldwide for years. In 2006, alt rock band OneRepublic recorded Apologize, written by the groups’ frontman, Ryan Tedder. In 2007, it went on to become a global mega-hit, hitting the #1 position on charts from Australia to the US to Germany, and selling more than 10 million units worldwide. Now, CAPP Records presents an incredible dance floor reinterpretation of the song that—dare we say—might well be better than the original!

CAPP Records is pleased to announce the release of another hot new dance track for late winter, Here Without You. Coming from Andrew Spencer and Lazard, it’s a kickin’ reinterpretation of the song from American rock band 3 Doors Down, the release package has several great mixes available.

One of Germany’s most in-demand producers, Andrew Spencer, returns from his global hits Zombie and To Be With You, to team with one of Europe’s hottest female DJs, Lazard. The result is the incredibly addictive, melodic track, Here Without You.
Initially tested under the producer moniker “Gino M. & Ray K.,” Here Without You has generated intense underground buzz as a bootleg. Now, as a joint venture between German labels Mental Madness and Pulsive Media, and brought to the U.S. by CAPP Records, the track gets a full remix package with versions that work on any dance floor, and in any mixshow!

In 2006, CAPP Records released a very solid compilation called Party Essential. The promotional side of the business wasn’t quite the well-honed machine we have today, and we believe that some of the tracks we put on the release didn’t quite get the exposure they deserved. So we’re working on rectifying that this year alongside our other initiatives.
One track in particular was Summertime, from DJ Skillmaster out of the UK. This pop-friendly dance crossover just has so many of the right elements, we decided to dust it off and hand it to our Germany-based producer, Dany Wild, to give it a redux with his capable touch. We’re very excited to see what Dany comes-up with on this one, but if his prior work is any indication, it’s going to be something very special indeed.
Dany is also a capable videographer, and as we speak, he and DJ Skillmaster are en route to Spain to film the major elements of a new video for Summertime. Skillmaster has been in Rome performing, and Dany calls Hamburg home. A particular location in Spain had just the right combination elements, so off they go to make it happen. We’ll also be including some terrific footage of some of the best sights of summer (so to speak).
Anyway, stay tuned. We’ll have more details of the new mix and new video as they become available, but we’re targeting a release just in time for the start of summer in the northern hemisphere.

San Francisco-based CAPP Records, along with its partner label, Germany’s Mental Madness Records, is shaking-up the US dance music scene again in 2008 with several compilation and single releases slated, featuring its premier compilation, Bounce!
Bounce!, available at iTunes and CAPP’s own Second Life digital store, features numerous strong tracks that push the envelope of dance music. The album’s first single, Andrew Spencer & The Vamprockerz’ global club smash Zombie, continues to climb dance charts with its rock-edged groove of the song made famous by The Cranberries. CAPP’s own Rikah shines with the original Everything is Changing, while DJ Analyzer vs. D-JMC offer a strong redux of Pat Benetar’s famous We Belong.
What makes CAPP’s releases so compelling is the availability of numerous remixes that span global dance styles. From hard-edged, Euro-infused “hands-up” style mixes popular with today’s youth, to more US mainstream friendly house mixes, the songs open dance to new audiences and satisfies dance music fans of all ages.

Called “jumpstyle,” this new dance sub-genre is edgy, thumpy, and evokes a funky, updated dancing combination of kicking forwards and backwards both legs on the basslines, even certain sub-genres of Jumpstyle moves have been embraced (hardjump, freestyle, duojump and tekstyle/starstyle).
Also on-tap this year with CAPP Records is another single release from Rikah, the rich and tasty Out of Time, as well as a re-release for 2008 of European super-DJ Rob Mayth’s Barbie Girl, a cover of the song originally from Aqua.

This week has been pretty big for us here at CAPP… Our radio spots to promote our compilation Bounce! have starting airing on Energy 92.7 here in our home city of San Francisco, as well as on the Internet radio station iPartyRadio.com.
Energy 92.7 is one of the most listened-to terrestrial dance stations in the country, and iPartyRadio.com is one of the leading Internet-only dance stations. Bounce! has really been gaining traction as we promote it to DJs and radio across the country, and we wanted to kick it even farther into high gear to make the public aware of this one.
If you haven’t heard it, Bounce! is home to the worldwide club hit Zombie from Andrew Spencer & The Vamprockerz. But it’s packed with other great hits too, include You from Special D. in a brand-new Rob Mayth remix, and our own Rikah with Everything is Changing which is one of the tracks we’re specifically promoting.
